Tom Kirby (writer, director & producer) Tom is best known as the creator and original host of Memphis’ hit late night theatre series, Freak Engine. He has also been employed as a performance artist, Tusken Raider, sound designer, modern dance company member, lighting designer, writer, Shakespeare company member, scenic designer, children’s theatre actor, record store manager, animator, and drummer. He currently finds himself and loses himself in LA.
Anthony Kunz (shooter, cutter, producer & CGI artist) Anthony is a mid-westerner with an eastern sensibility. A deep interest in Buddhist philosophy has influenced his painting, music and cinematography, with the hopes of spreading happiness and peace. Born in Milwaukee, WI, Anthony was raised in Oshkosh and graduated from Lourdes High School in 2001. He then earned a bachelor’s degree as a double major in Radio/Television/Film and Art Theory/Practice at Northwestern University in 2005. He received an MFA in cinematography from the University of Southern California in May 2008. Though raised on Hollywood blockbusters (the only movies that made it to small-town Oshkosh), he feels an affinity with European and Asian cinema as well as experimental American cinema. A student of all forms of art, Anthony studied painting and music throughout his childhood. Since he was 10 years old, he wrote and recorded music and for a while this was his passion. Only after he received his first 35mm SLR camera did the thought of filmmaking arise as a place to stretch his active imagination. While working for a local professional photographer and interning at the local cable access channel, Anthony began to take filmmaking more seriously, at first as a director. It was Tak Fujimoto’s work on The 6th Sense that inspired him to pursue cinematography. He has currently worked on more than 65 projects and in many ways, Jupiter’s Ghost is the one he has been waiting for.
