I just wanted to say hello and welcome our new viewers to the official Jupiter’s Ghost site.  We used to link to all of the show videos here but once the first JG series was completed it made sense to rearrange things a bit.  We still have the first few episodes embedded here but there are better ways to watch.

We have a YouTube channel HERE where you can see the whole series or you can visit our Facebook page HERE where we also have the videos available.  IMHO, the vids look better on Facebook but we don’t really care where you see them as long as you’re watching.

What are we planning for the future?  Well, if Anthony has his way, we’ll be doing something along the lines of the graphic you see above.  He made the faux comic cover you see there and I think it’s a gentle nudge in the ribs to get working on something JG-related.

At any rate, it’s a safe bet that JG isn’t finished.  Promise.

I thought it was about time for a few new banners and buttons.  Appropriate since our previous banner listed our start date.  :)  Check out the BANNERS page for more and post away!

This past Saturday we redressed the engine room to reflect Elizabeth’s attempts to make a critical repair.  This set has been a real pleasure to work on.  I think it looks great on camera and really raises the production values of the entire show.  I can’t wait for all of you to see it in action.

You can check out the Week 5 vids for the first appearance of the engine service area, but you’ll have to wait quite a bit longer to see the scene in these pictures completed.

Our first segment is now LIVE!  Check it out!

This is our first promotional video for Jupiter’s Ghost. Be sure to visit us on YouTube as well and rate our video…if you are Heracles. I am.

Last weekend we shot a new character for JG, Ryan Hartnett III, played By Anthony Kuhnz. Ryan is a media luminary in the 22nd century and is at the center of GAIA’s media outreach (AKA, marketing) program.

The photo above is a sneak peek of Rob shooting Anthony on the roof of our building at magic hour. We actually got to shoot outside for a change! Anthony did an awesome job in his first turn as Ryan and Rob didn’t stumble once despite the fact that I was asking him to do the camera watusi up on that gravel-covered roof. I can’t wait to see what this will look like when it’s all cut together!

Since we’re now a whole month into shooting this thing I thought it was time you met our cast so here they are. I honestly couldn’t have found a better group if I’d spent a year searching. Check out the CAST page for more info on these fine folks. From left to right, they are Darren Leigh Philips (Dr. Ellison Branch), Frederick Frazier (Master Sgt. Samuel Reine), Marshelle Fair (Ada Skyler), Brian Mason (2nd Lt. Mark Dickinson), Tom Kirby (Commander Macon Cook), Danielle Lescure (Dr. Elizabeth Hewitt), and William Joseph Hill (Dr. Cunar Andrews).

I’m really looking forward to getting some of these messages posted so you all can get to see the great work these folks are doing…except for that fifth one from the left. Who let him in here?

As of yesterday, we completed our second day of shooting on the show! We’ve had some small noise issues with our location but other than that we’ve had smooth sailing. For some reason the lumber yard next door just doesn’t want to shut down during our takes and it seems they have an almost clairvoyant ability to make noise at the worst times. Rob’s been yelling at them over the fence but I fear he may soon be sporting a 2×4 in place of his Quicksilver cap. The only other problem we had this week was with Chipotle screwing up our lunch order but that’s easy enough to fix. We’ll just cross them off the lunch list.

I’m certain that when this show hits the inter-waves most people will never consider how difficult it is for the actors to perform this way, but it’s something I considered from the word go. In fact, I wasn’t going to cast myself at first because I wasn’t sure I wanted to deal with it. Let me just put it this way. Acting to the camera by yourself for an entire shoot is akin to being the field goal kicker in a football game that has nothing but kicking. It’s strange. It’s odd. It’s freaking hard! AND that left upright always seems to get in the way. So far all of our actors have handled the challenge with grace so I doubt anyone will ever notice the difficulty involved but I did want to pat them on their collective back for a job well done so far.

I’d also like to mention the hard work that Anthony and Rob have contributed so far. They’ve become a sort of tag team of cinematographers and they’re both doing great work. In addition, Anthony has been hard at work on the Heracles exteriors we’ll be using in our first promo that will be titled “I Am Heracles”. We plan on releasing it over Thanksgiving weekend so keep an eye open. The interweb tubes may never be the same.

I hope you’ll wish us luck as we embark on shooting week number three. I’d better get to work writing so we’ll actually have something to shoot. Until next time.

We got 173 submissions for seven roles. It was difficult separating what the characters look like in my mind from the faces in front of me but there were still certain people that jumped off the computer monitor. What’s really interesting is the fact that the people who jumped off the screen before the audition were the same ones I liked the best after the auditions. In other words, the actual auditions did little to change my mind. They actually just reinforced my opinions.

As of this writing I have five of the seven roles filled. I still have some thinking to do about the final two but I’m thrilled with the fine folks who have chosen to be a part of our production. More info about that soon.

I’ve decided to wait and see how auditions go before writing any more. I have over 50 pages of the 250 or so that will be needed but I want to nail down the characters a little better. I already have bios and mental images of these people but I’m trying to remain open to the possibilities offered by those who choose to audition.
